FInale!!!

It has been a year and I have been faithful and cheerful and finished with my treatments. I have been a model patient. (OK...so Im a darn good liar!)

Anyways I am done. My kids have tried to kill me during the event. Randy got married on July 30th and Heather became engaged on August 8th. Wedding is Oct. 23rd of this year. So she is busy planning a wedding and having me help on small details.

Work has been really slow and who knows maybe we will just close down and have a life back.

Thanks to all who have stood by me and given me encouragement and support to get through this past year. Friends are everything!

2 More But Whose Counting?

I am! I am finishing up my chemo treatment and decided my last post was a long time ago. I had a diagnostic mammogram last week and everything looks good. I am in remission and have checks every 6 months. I will be glad whe it is past. Did anyone read the sweet blog Kyle posted for my 1 year mark? It was really sweet of him. check out his blogspot if you havent.
My hair is coming back and about 1-2 inches long. It is grayand speckled. I think that I will not go back to coloring but who knows. Lets see how the gramma look is for a while. It is silver white like my daddys.

Randy is getting married next week. We are having a celebration in our back yard in august. I have been planting flowers and Don has been working deligently on the garden and everything else. If you didn't get an invite and want one let me know! I meant to send one to all our friends but you know how it is. sometimes things get ost in the mail and my memory.

Race for the Cure

So today was the big day for the Race for the Cure in Boise. I am filled to the brim with emotions and the outpouring of support I had from friends and family. I decided to sponsor a team and named my team Pier 49 Pizza Babes and Friends. 3 co-workers walked on my team and we had a total of 36 that signed up to be on my team and several more who partcipated with other teams or cheered and showed moral support in other ways ect. I am choked with emotion of all my friends and family who have helped me get through this past year. The end of August will be my official year mark and I will begin my I am done with treatment hoorah! I am still on a maintenance plan currently and still partcipating in a voluntary program/clinical to help find a cure.

I think it has finally hit me about how fortunate I am that I am one of the survivors that hopefully has beat breast cancer. Not because I am special but be cause I acted upon the early warning signs and caught it in the early stages. It saddens me that I still have many friends out there that need to go in for regular mamograms. If you wait until the late stages it is much harder to fight. So girlie friends go get checked! Save yourself. There is a cure. One is 7 women will have breast cancer. I had 36 friends walk in the race with me today. 3 were men 33 were women. Statisics prove that 5 of you will develop breast cancer before the age of 85. Pretty scary huh! I cut my hair 3 years ago and donated it to locks of love. I had my 1st mammogram at age 40. That should be insurance right? Well... it wasnt. Take care of yourself! I love you guys for all your support.

I Now Have 4 Grandkids!

So i recieved a surprise phone call on New Years Day! Jason said he was taking Sarah to the hospital to have their baby. About a week early. Anyways...I went up that night after work in time to be there during the birth. Pretty cool. You are amazing Sarah!

So I have had 31/2 weeks of radiation. I have been really tired and sleeping lots. I have been having a lot of pain in my feet and joints. I was diagnosed with neuropathy several months ago. When I complained to the dr about the pain I told him I needed something stronger than vicadin so he gave me morophin. anyways...long story short the next week I complained again and he said he gave me amitriptlin 6 months ago for nerapathy and I refused it cuz the side effects on the label were scary. So i decided to try it for a week...NOW>>> After a week I complained again it wasnt working and demanded that he look at my feet. He referred me to a podiatrist who said I have bunions caused from my shoes being to tight. My shoes are to tight cuz I have plantar fasiatics which is caused from being overweight and on my feet excessively. My arches are falling and causing my feet to spred. He gave me a shot of cortisone in each feet and I have RELIEF!!! at last if only temporary. So i am back to my original theory that DRs have a license to "PRACTICE" medicine. and I am getting old.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

So I had another birthday! Pretty funny thing happened. I go to lunch with a group of gals every month. It started out as my bosom buddies group to remind us to check monthly for breast cancer. some of us went for our first mammogram together. Janet called to tell me we were having lunch at her house this month. I was sure it was a little surprise party for ME!! Wow someone actually remembered. But it was an accident/coincidence that it was on my birthday. (Thanks Kris for remembering!!) Pretty humorous really. that evening we went to Joes Crab Shack for dinner. Madison my 8 year old neice celebrated with us. Her birthday is the day before mine so yea...we are 41 years apart. As well as Sarah and my dad. January birthday party But me and maddi picked the place. Awe..birthdays are so overrated. I think I will plan a big party for myself next year. It has been 30 some years since I had a real party!

Cancer treatment is coming along., I started Radiation Dec 31. It take me longer to drive there that treatment. Makes me really tired tho. I have been sleeping 10-12 hours nightly so dont call before 9 am! I have finished my 1st round of chemo. Radiation last 6 weeks for 5 days a week. Chemo in the second round is 6 months every 3 weeks. I am using Herceptin and Nulastin. Not sure of the spelling. These are not near as harsh as the 4 I was taking. I guess you are surprised I had a second round. Well...I didnt tell anyone cuz I was gonna quit and I didnt want a bunch of crap...but I decided to stay the course. So here i am.
